Sweatlodge ceremony:
Inipi, the sweatlodge is a ceremonial sauna. It is used for ceremonial cleansing, for body and soul. The sweatlodge is a low dome-like structure built on mother earth. Traditionally it is built with a frame of tree shoots or branches. The wood structure is then covered with either blankets and canvas. In the middle of the lodge is a deep hole, which is going to be filled during the ceremony with hot stones. Usually the sweatlodge ceremony has four doors(four rounds), the thank you, please, give and visions doors – after every door it will be open for new hot stones. The firekeeper brings the hot stones into the lodge to fill the hole. In the sweatlodge people are without cloth and without jewelry or other metal things, they can use cottontowels to wrap around or sit on. During the sweatlodge ceremony, there will be praying, singing and playing drums. Usually after the fourth door you can leave the lodge.
The sweatlodge ceremonies can be different depending on the needs of the participants.
If someone needs it, we offer medicine sweatlodges too.
We always offer sweatlodge ceremonies in Luxembourg.
